Dorothy Jean Schwartz Lanham

Dorothy Jean Schwartz Lanham, 88, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Lexington, KY.

Born in Daviess County, KY on January 31, 1938, Dorothy was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro. She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Anthony Lanham; her parents Henry Andrew and Helen Katherine Mackey Schwartz; and her brothers Joseph A. Schwartz and Henry Louis “Dude” Schwartz.

Dorothy graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1956, married Bill in 1966, and raised her sons near her beloved extended family and friends in Owensboro. She worked for General Electric, S.W. Anderson's, and retired from Hillcrest Medical Care. Her favorite times were attending family gatherings, playing card and dice games, cooking delicious BBQ and 7-layer salad, and cheering on her UK basketball teams.

Dorothy is survived by her siblings Mike K. (Janet) Schwartz, Thomas R. (Sharleen) Schwartz, and Sharon K. Kulka, all of Owensboro, KY, and their families. She is also survived by her sons Brian Keith (DeeDee) Lanham and Joseph Michael (Suzanne) Lanham of Lexington; her grandchildren Kayleigh Gossett, Scott Lanham, Michael (Brooke) Lanham, and Andrew Lanham; and her great-grandchildren Ethan Duncan, Logan Duncan, and Carly Harmon.

Services, officiated by Father Brandon Williams, will be at noon on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, Owensboro, KY, with visitation from 11 am until noon. Graveside service will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Stanley, KY.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Daniel Pitino Shelter or St. Vincent de Paul, Owensboro, KY.
