Dorothy "Dottie" Hamilton, 89, of Owensboro, died Monday, February 25, 2013 at her home. Dottie was born in Daviess County to the late John Henry and Golda Mae (Bivins) James. She retired from Smith Florist, and previously worked for 18 years in the lunch room at Our Lady of Lourdes. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, and Mending Hearts Chapter 202. Dottie loved sewing, crocheting, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Hamilton in 2000, and a daughter Mary Margaret Hamilton.

Surviving are her children, James Thomas (Rita) Hamilton of Louisville, David Michael (Marie) Hamilton of Odessa,FL, Jack D.Hamilton of Owensboro , Tony (Willie) Hamilton of Philpot, and Patty (Danny) Merimee of Owensboro, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Rev. John Meredith officiating. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers at 5 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Thursday.
