Dorothy McClure Dukes

Dorothy McClure Dukes, 80, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born June 11, 1935 in McLean Co. to the late Samuel and Lorene Drace McClure. She was retired from the Daviess Co. School System where she worked in the after school program and cafeteria at Highland Elementary and Deer Park Elementary Schools. Dorothy was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she was very active. She enjoyed singing and had sung in a quartet. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed all types of sports and watched many of her grandchildren's games. She was a big U. K. basketball fan. Dorothy was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Dukes in 1963, and two sisters, Ann Oller and Faye Greenwell.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Paul B. Dukes, a son, Ronnie (Katherine) Dukes of Owensboro, three daughters, Sheila (Glen) Davis, Vickie (Roger) Ellis, and Kristie (Jeremy) Coomes, all of Owensboro, 12 grandchildren, Cindy (David) Charles of Georgetown, Kelly (Jason) Wagner and Matt (Selisa) Davis all of Owensboro, Brad (Jamie) Ellis and Jonathan (Janine) Ellis, all of Lexington, Chris (Krystle) Dukes, Jessica Dukes, Blake Roberts, Hannah Coomes, Austin Coomes, and Kobe Coomes, all of Owensboro, and Coty James of Madisonville, 18 great grandchildren, a sister, Edna (Benny) Latham of Island, and two brothers, Louis J. (Frances) McClure and James (Gloria) McClure, all of Owensboro.

Services will be 12 Noon Monday, November 23, at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial following in Greenbriar Baptist Church Cemetery in Utica. Visitation will be from 12:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 10:00 A.M. Monday at Macedonia Baptist Church.
