Dorothy "Dot" Ward

Dorothy "Dot" Ward, 88, passed away March 17, 2019 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born March 2, 1931 in Daviess County to the late Robert Joseph and Elizabeth Wink Bumm. After retirement from Medley Distillery and Brescia University, Dorothy was an active volunteer at the Carmel Home, Birthright, the St. Vincent De Paul Society, and Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Kevin M. Ward Sr.; sisters, Helen Bumm and Betty Booker; and brothers, Bob, Bill, Les, and Nick Bumm.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Kevin M. Ward Jr. and his wife Jodi, of Louisville and Mike Ward and his wife Mary Beth, of Philpot; four grandchildren, Allison (Justin) Schwarz and Drew Ward, of Louisville, and Ryan and Jenna Ward, of Philpot; sisters, Martha Payne of Owensboro and Martina Vecchio of Bradenton, FL; brother, Martin Bumm, of Owensboro; along with numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

The funeral mass will be 10am Friday at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Richard Cash officiating. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3pm until 8pm Thursday with prayers at 7pm, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory; and from 8:30am until 9:30am Friday morning at the funeral home.

The family of Dorothy Ward would like to give a special thanks to both organizations for the care and compassion they showed Dorothy while she was under their care.
