Dorothy Louise Coons

Dorothy Louise Lockridge Ladd Coons, 90, of Owensboro KY, surrounded by her children and under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday March 29, 2017. She met up with the love of her life Bill Coons on the other side. Dorothy truly left this world of a broken heart. She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie Lockridge and Lola Melton Lockridge Triplett, her siblings Ann Griffith, Carroll Lockridge and Doug Lockridge.
Dorothy was born July 6, 1926 in Sebree, KY, the oldest of four children. After graduating high school and attending college, Dorothy obtained a degree in teaching. She was a woman of many talents who enjoyed playing piano, sewing and traveling the world as a military wife. Her personality could be best described as a "social butterfly" due to her always wanting to entertain her friends and family and the compassion she had for all. If you met Dorothy, you would know that she never knew a stranger, a person she didn't like, nor a person she couldn't find the good in.
Survivors include her children, Reketta Hendrick (Eddie) of Indian Mound, TN and their childrenAllan (Hannah) and Robbie (Carrie); William Ladd Jr (Janet) of Hope Mills, North Carolina and their children Tina (Edwin), Tiffany (Marlon), and William Ladd 3rd; Zo Tichenor (Rusty) Owensboro, KY and their children Zach and McKena of Owensboro, KY; Shae Rye (Aaron) Clarksville, TN and their children Abrielle (Gabe) and Amanda Shae; Ladeana Roberson (Jason) of Leawood KS and their children Joshua and Austin; and Lisa Coons of Orlando, FL; and grand pup Timon
Dorothy was affectionately known as Mamaw to the older grand and great-grandchildren, and as Mimi to the younger grand and great-grandchildren. In addition to her 11 grandchildren Dorothy had 17 great grandchildren whom she so deeply loved. She was also Foster Grandmother to many special young ladies that she touched over the years. Even at the age of 90 she stayed in constant contact with each of them through FaceBook, always commenting on the pictures of her babies. And to Ozzy and Mocha, you will never know the comfort you brought mother, especially in her last days.
Services will be Noon Saturday, April 1, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Mark Poiles officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
A special thanks to the staff of Heartford House for caring for our mother, she loved you all so much. And to all the many family, friends and visitors over the last few weeks she loved you with all her heart.
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered "Come with me" A golden heart stopped beating hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best.
