Dorothy Marie Clem

Dorothy Marie Clem, 79, of 4918 Grandview Drive, Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Ms. Clem was a member of St Pius X Catholic Church where she was a member of the Choir and the Prayer Chain. She had worked in the Cigar Factory before going back to school in her 50s to become a nurse and begin a new career at Owensboro Medical Health System. Ms. Clem loved to cook and had collected many recipes; she knitted and crocheted, protected the stray cats in her neighborhood and volunteered for Hospice and the Rick Pitino Shelter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Katherine Bessie Jones Mayo, her husband Larry Clem, a brother Larry Mayo and two grandchildren, Stephen Quinto and Angie Quinn.

Survivors include her children, daughters, Karen Cooper and her husband Don of Purcellville, and Darlene S. Quinn and her husband Tom of Owensboro, a son, David L. Clem and his wife Tara of Owensboro, and a daughter, Carla Froehlich and her husband Nick of Philpot; her brothers and sisters, Charles Mayo, James Mayo, Jesse Mayo, Jerry Mayo, Sue Dougan, Bettye Skelton, Sidney Mayo, Judy Davis, Dennis Mayo, Mike Mayo and Peggy Mayo; her grandchildren, Matthew Cooper, Edward Cooper, Josh Quinn, Michael Quinn, Alicia Quinn, Jeff Clem, Misty (Clem) Payne, Stefen Chapman, Nicole Wells, Hanna Froehlich and Ashley Froehlich; 10 great-grandchildren, and her cat Sugar.

Services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 until 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice.
