Dorothy Williams Boone

Dorothy Williams Boone, 95, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Hartford on August 11, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Golda Fielden Williams; was a former member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church; and retired from the Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital where she worked in the Dietary Department. Mrs. Boone enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; garage sales; and her church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hillary "Banty" Boone in 1986; brothers, Donald Williams and J.T. Williams; and a sister, Emily Hoover.

Surviving are her children, Brenda Edge and Frances (Robert) Sims of Owensboro, Mike (Cynthia) Boone of Charleston, SC, and Randy (Marcia) Boone of Masonville; grandchildren, Jimmy (Lisa) Edge, Vicki M. Sims, Jason (Lisa) Boone, David W. Sims, Kelly (Donald) Howard, Matthew (Taylor) Boone, Chris Boone, Tiffany (Jason) Huff; great-grandchildren, Tyler Edge, Tanner Edge, Trenton Howard, Seth Boone, Jaiden Howard, Ireland Boone, Lauren Howard, Dylan Huff, Karlee Huff, and Cian Boone; a brother, Edward (Ada) Williams of Sebring, FL; and sisters, Iona (Lee) Hendrix of of Evansville and Charlotte Beavin of Owensboro.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Sugar Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Shouse officiating followed by burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
