Dorothy Marie Hagan Aud

Dorothy Marie Hagan "Dot" Aud, 89, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Carmel Home. She was born May 25, 1927, in Whitesville, KY to Robert and Virginia Russelburghe Hagan. The family moved to Owensboro in 1943. She was employed for 46 years at Ken-Rad, General Electric (Local #783) and MPD, where she served as a group leader. She later worked for various demo companies, handing out samples, where she met new friends and stayed connected with old ones.

After retirement Dot served her community through many volunteer organizations, including RSVP, Volunteer Tax Program, Daughters of Isabella, Goodfellows Club, Carmel Home, Brescia University and RiverPark Center for 15 years, earning the 100 + award. Being a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church since 1953, she served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, a member of Bereavement Dinner Committee and Toy Booth Chairman at the summer picnic. Dorothy was honored as a Kentucky Colonel and Lady Colonel.

Dot was known as "the lady with the red geranium garden". Her efforts were awarded by the City of Owensboro with the Golden Mower Award in 2003.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Guy Aud in 1979; brothers, JT Hagan and Joe Hagan; a sister Mary Hagan Brey; a step-son, Charles Robert Aud; and a step-granddaughter, Carol Lynn Dickens.

She is survived by her daughters, Connie (George) Morgan, Kathy (Paul) Wilson, and Cindy Aud; a step-daughter Patsy (Barney) Dickens; seven grandchildren, Heather (Isaac) McCarty, Olivia (Clay) Terry, Blake (Nicole) Wilson, Travis Morgan, Jodie Morgan, George Morgan, Matthew Aud; six great-granddaughters, Alexa, Morgan, Alea, Kayleigh, Elena and Isabelle; sisters, Ann McIntyre and Barbara (Don) Mattingly; nine step-grandchildren, Jimmy Dickens, Karen Martin, Janice Johnson, Joyce Knight, Kelly Boyens, Bobby Aud, Vickie Cecil, Becky Aud and Shane Aud; twenty-five step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who she loved dearly.

The funeral mass will be 10 AM Wednesday, December 14 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:30 until 8 PM, with prayers at 7PM, and after 9 AM Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. There will also be visitation at Carmel Home Tuesday from 12:30 – 1:30 PM. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Whitesville.

The family would like to thank Carmel Home staff for their excellent care and compassion, especially during the time of their mothers passing. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.
