Dorotha Mae Wimsatt Austin

Dorotha Mae Wimsatt Austin, 92, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born July 5, 1918 in Daviess County, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Nora Vance Wimsatt; was retired from Foust Junior High School where she worked in the lunchroom; and was a member of the Owensboro Church of Christ. Mrs. Austin enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, shopping and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Austin on November 7, 1978, and children, Dorotha Marilyn Austin, Richard Andrew Austin, and Gayle Elaine Thovson; and siblings, Melba Creekmur, Christine Ijames, Harlan Wimsatt, and Bob Wimsatt.

Surviving is a daughter, Judith Roberts of Oregon; a special niece, Norine (Wayne) Hans of Owensboro; grandchildren, Carol Roberts of Reno, NV, Amy Barro of West Covina, CA, Greg Roberts of Japan, Scott Thovson of Alabama, and Jennifer Barnes of Indianapolis, IN; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur Wimsatt of Owensboro.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2010 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Jimmy Bunch officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and after 9 a.m. on Friday.
