Doris Adams Middleton Ranson, 86, of Owensboro, passed away May 12, 2018. She was born November 2, 1931, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to the late Earle Wells Adams and Eddie Mae Beaven.
Doris graduated from Owensboro Senior High, Owensboro, Ky., in 1950. She attended Blue Mountain College in MS. Doris graduated from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis with a nursing degree, Brescia University, in 1980 with a B. A. degree, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1984 with a Masters in Divinity. She did graduate study at Notre Dame University in 1984 and took studies in the Program of Alternate Studies.
Doris became a Christian in 1940, was baptized at Walnut Street Baptist Church, and later became a member of First Baptist Church where she lead Sunday School classes. She came under the care of Owensboro Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1987 and she was licsenced and ordained the same year. Doris served as Minister of Education at Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church from 1984-1987. She was protestant Chaplin at of Mercy Hospital from 1987-1990, and was pastor of C.P. Pleasant Hill Church from 1990-2001. She served on the Board of Trustees of Memphis Theological Seminary. She was moderator of the Owensboro snd Cumberland Presbyteries and a member on the Committee on the Ministry. Doris was a member of Acacia Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, served for 10 years on the Commisson of Human Rights Relations in Owensboro, and worked since 1988 with the "Walk to Emmaus" group. Doris was an avid reader with a passion for religious studies.
Doris was preceded in death by her first husband J.B. Middleton Jr., second husband Robert M. Ranson; and sister, Joyce Mcdowell.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Middleton; brother, Earle G. Adams and his wife Genevive; sisters, JoAnn Weller, and Janice Robbins; sister-in-law Elva Ranson, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 10 am Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverends Tim McGuire, Wallace Renner, and Todd Love officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, and after 9 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Elba.
