Doris Jean O'Dell Nantz, 86, of Owensboro, formerly of Whitesville, passed away at her home on August 7, 2014. She was born in Ohio County on June 25, 1928 to the late Jesse L. and Verda Harder Ralph.
Doris was of the Baptist faith and was baptized by John Hall in Rough Creek. She was the last surviving founder of the Whitesville Riding Club and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of U.S. Naval Fleet Reserve. Doris worked for 20 years at the General Electric Plant and retired from Swedish Match in 1990.
Doris was preceded in death by her husbands, Willard Eugene O'Dell in 1969 and Randall Nantz in 1996; her daughter, Dolores O'Dell Norris Hall; son, Jesse Lynn O'Dell; grandson, Matthew Norris; and sister, Edythe Louise Midkiff Berry.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne Lamb (Gordon); grandson, Keith Lamb; granddaughter, Dodie Conder (Roger); five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; nephew, Terry Midkiff (Gwen); niece, Dottie Gilbert (Robert); and loving cousin, Freda Boswell.
Services will be at 12 noon on Saturday, August 9 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Rev. Eugene Howard will officiate. Friends may visit after 9 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
