Doris S. Hurley, 88, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019, at her home with her family at her side. She was born November 12, 1930 in Ohio County to the late Herman and Mabel Hoagland Shown. Doris was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Pinkerton Tobacco Co. and had served also as a Union Steward. She also had worked at General Electric, had done some catering, and had driven a school bus for the South Spencer School Corporation. Doris was an avid bowler, enjoyed water skiing, being in the outdoors, and making wedding cakes. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Harold Shown and Kenneth Shown.
Surviving are her sons, Jeff Hurley and wife Tammy of Owensboro and Rick Hurley and wife Pam of Evansville, IN, two grandchildren, Braxton Hurley of Owensboro and Nicole Clayton of Stockholm, Sweden, two sisters, Wanda Snyder of Drakesboro and Anna Whitehouse Howard and husband Richard of Hammond, IN, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Doris Hurley will be 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 10, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Private burial will be in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
