Doris Cole Hollywood Gard, age 74 of 1050 Lakeside Green, Maceo, KY, died Sunday, November 25, 2001 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in New York State, June 9, 1927. In New York she was an accordion teacher for over 18 years. She moved to Kentucky where she worked as a care provider for Green River Comprehensive Care. She was also a bus driver for the Owensboro City School System, from where she retired. She was a former elder of the Presbyterian Church, and was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Owensboro.
Her first husband, Harold Henry Bud Cole, preceded Mrs. Gard in death in 1974. Her second husband, Lawrence E. Larry Gard, her husband of 32 years, survives her. She is also survived by three sons; Frederick Otis Cole of Greenfield Center, NY, Harold Henry Sonny Cole Jr. of Saratoga Springs, NY, and Keith Richard Cole of Owensboro, KY; Lorraine Faith Cummings of Saratoga Springs, NY, and Celeste Hope Cole of Maceo, KY; two step-sons, Lawrence Eams Gard Jr. of Ballston Spa, NY, and John Garrison Gard of Pueblo West, Colorado; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Frankie Brownell of Kalamazoo, MI; four sisters, Violet Tobin, Edith Griffin, and Maxine Munger all of Glenn Falls, NY., and Janice Frisbie of Ocala, FL
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, 2001, from four to eight p.m. and also after nine a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro, KY. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2001, at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Ballston Spa, NY. Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Building Fund, 3475 Thruston-Dermont Road, Owensboro, KY 42303.
