Doris Juanita Eubanks Estes

Doris Juanita Eubanks Estes, 84, of Maceo, passed from this life Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Wellington Parc.
Born in Hancock County to David and Leota Eubanks, Doris touched many lives with her love and laughter as a faithful servant of her God, family, and community. A member of Maceo United Methodist Church, and then Thruston United Methodist Church, she played the piano and organ, taught Sunday School, organized Vacation Bible Schools, and created/directed dozens of Christmas programs.
Mrs. Estes' greatest passion was the education of children. A teacher, much of her career at Lewisport Elementary, she instructed nearly every grade, finally settling in the 1st grade classroom where she was said to have, "found her calling." She continued her passion in retirement with grandchildren, great grandchildren, young neighbors, and every child she met.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Eubanks; a step-granddaughter, Amanda Denton and her husband of 56 years, Mallory Joe "Judy" Estes. She is survived by her children; David William Estes (Nancy) of Jacksonville, Fla.; Janet Louise Estes of Owensboro; Juanita Jo Estes Sprague (Michael) of Maceo; Walter Eubanks Estes of Maceo; grandchildren Bethany Estes Mulligan (Jeremy) of Owensboro, Mallory Jo Sprague of Maceo, Cora Jane Sprague of Maceo, and a step-grandson, Lee Denton of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren, Lennon, Jarrek, and Aven Rose.
A Celebration of her Life will be at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, Wednesday, June 6 at Noon. Entombment will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
