Doris Bell Brenner, 76, of Calhoun, passed away on July 30, 2017 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Mrs. Brenner was born on July 6, 1941 to Raymond C. and Irene Crowe Bell in Ohio County. Doris had earned her B.A. from Kentucky Wesleyan, her Master's from Western Kentucky University, and a PhD From the University of Louisville. She had a 34-year career as an educator in the McLean County school system.
She was also a Calhoun County City Council member for several years, Yellow banks Dulcimer festival active participant and a supporter of the Mclean County Historial and Genealogy Museum
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond C. Bell in 2006; and her husband of 36 years, Billy Brenner in 2003.
Doris is survived by her mother, Irene Crowe Bell of Owensboro; a brother, Kenneth Bell and his wife Rhoda, of Louisville; nephew, Brad Bell of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; also 2 great nieces and a great nephew, all of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
A funeral service will be 2pm Thursday, August 3rd, 2017 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Bro. Ken Berggren officiating. Burial will follow in Calhoun Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon on Thursday until time of service at the funeral home.
The family will be forever grateful for the caregivers: Diane, Rita, Stacy, Samantha, Tracy, Chelsey, Sharon, Mindy, Becky, and Beth, her physician, Dr. Angela Hardwick, and special friends: Shirley and Susie, who graciously and tirelessly tended to her every need these last few years. Words are simply inadequate to express the incredible blessing they have been to Doris and her family.
