Doris June Murphy Blandford, 82, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, July 18, 2025 at Signature Healthcare Hillcrest. She was born in Daviess County to the late Thomas Y. and Imelda Hicks Murphy.
Mrs. Blandford was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who treasured time with family, especially her grandchildren. These times often included a passionate game of dominoes, especially in recent years. She was a devout Catholic who attended Mass daily. Doris was an active 50-year member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Mrs. Blandford was very diligent about the cleanliness of her home and enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading. She will be dearly missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Gerald W. Blandford, Sr. in 2002; her son, Gerald W. Blandford, Jr. in 2008; and siblings, Jack Murphy, Joan Froehlich and Randy Murphy.
Doris is survived by daughters, Tamra Joan Burcham (Kevin) of Owensboro and Beth Marie Hunter (Shawn) of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Emily Reardon (Brian), Eric Burcham (Sarah) and Claire Hunter; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Hiland, Brooks Burcham and Ada Reardon; sisters, Faye Millay and Benita Martin (Paul); sisters-in-law, Diane Lane (Byron) and Julia Graziano (Nick); brothers-in-law, Don Blandford and Tom Blandford (Helen); several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 24 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM (with prayers at 6:30) and Thursday from 8:30 until 9:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
