Donna Ann White, age 59, of Owensboro passed away from this earthly life on April 22, 2013 at her home. At her resurrection she will spend eternity with her Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on March 24, 1954 in Missouri to the late Norabelle Shelton Miller and Carl Kirk.
Donna attended John A. Logan College and was employed at Comfort Keepers until her diagnosis of cancer. She married the love of her life, Joel White on May 21, 1977. Together they raised five children.
Donna was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She had a beautiful singing voice and performed many solos, duets and trios, singing and praising the Lord in church. She loved planting flower gardens, and enjoyed and appreciated all of God's creation. She enjoyed UK basketball, St. Louis Cardinal baseball and was an avid Owensboro Red Devil baseball fan. Anyone who knew her, knew that she was a conversationalist who never met a stranger. Above all, she enjoyed the family holiday gatherings and spending time with her family. Her greatest and proudest accomplishment was being a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife. She was adored by, and particularly close to her grandchildren. She was always her grandchildren's voice and advocate. She battled her illness with grace, dignity and determination. It is the same way she lived her whole life. One of her famous quotes throughout her hard-fought battle was "remember to watch for the blessings as they come along the way". It is a quote that will be fondly remembered by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Darrell Kirk; and a sister, Debra Williams.
She will be sadly missed and leaves behind her husband of 36 years, Joel White; her son, Rocky White (Shelly); her daughter, Della Wall (Andy), all of Owensboro; three stepchildren, J.D. White (Gale) of Owensboro, Brandy McClellard (David) of Mt. Carmel, IL and Sharmin Partridge (Harley) of Eldorado, IL; grandchildren, Thomas White, Rocky White, Jr., Joshua White, Laurren Boehman (her pumpkin), Darrell Boehman, Katelyn Kerzan, Kamryn Timmons, Gracie Langley, Chris Hendry, Airain Hendry, Aieral White, Chris Horton, Heather Horton, Matthew McClelland, Carly McClelland, Greyson Boehman; and six great grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister, Robyn Miller; two nephews; one niece; her best friend, Marcia Richerson of West Frankfort, IL; and Ed and Katie Sanders of Owensboro.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 25 at Owensboro Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2288 Tamarack Road. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3-8 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and on Thursday after 11 AM at the church.
