Donna Gayle McCoy, a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and beloved member of her community, was born on December 26, 1945, in Daviess County. She peacefully departed this life on February 2, 2025, at Wellington Parc. Donna was a member of Masonville Baptist Church. Throughout her life, Donna exemplified a spirit of unwavering faith and generosity. She showed compassion for kids and had a special gift of seeing into their hearts. Gravitating towards children who needed love, Donna would follow the very words of Jesus when He said, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name, welcomes me…” Donna also had a desire to help those around her and made significant contributions through her volunteer work with CASA for many years. Donna's heart was always inclined towards giving back to her community, and she found immense joy in teaching Bible school and Sunday school, nurturing the spiritual growth of countless young lives. In addition to her commitment to her faith and service, Donna cherished her time spent in her garden, where she found solace and fulfillment. She took great pleasure in cutting grass and canning foods, activities that reflected her nurturing spirit and dedication to home and family. Most of all, Donna enjoyed spending time with her family.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gerald David McCoy; mother, Mary Alice (Newbolt) Mehlbauer; biological father, Mitchell Adams; father, Leo J. Mehlbauer; and sister, Linda Haire.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Karen Katchuk (Scott) of Philpot, Kelly Wathen (Christopher) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Wesley McCoy (Kimberly) of Philpot; grandchildren, Morgan Smith (Matthew) of Auburn, AL, Jakob Wathen, of Pittsburgh, PA, Avary Wathen of Cincinnati, OH, Emily McCoy, of Lexington, KY, and a sister, Barbara Embrey (Harold) of Owensboro.
The funeral service for Donna will be 12 PM Friday, February 7th, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
