Donna Jean Holloway

Donna Jean (Robinson) Holloway 89, of Owensboro KY went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2024, while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. Donna was born on February 1, 1935, in Rochester Kentucky, as one of ten children to the late Thomas Alley and Ruby Benton Robinson. She graduated from Rochester High School and moved to Owensboro in 1954 where she met her future husband, Paul, and was married on July 5, 1955. Donna was employed at the General Electric Mfg. plant until her retirement in 1969. In 1962, Donna and Paul moved to Maceo where they raised their three sons. When they were grown and had left the home Donna worked for the Owensboro Tourist Commission where she met many new friends. She was a loving and caring person and made lifelong friends in her neighborhood, places of employment, and different organizations in which she participated.

 In her younger years Donna enjoyed bowling with her husband and competed in several leagues in Owensboro over a span of 2 decades. She was good with her hands and could knit, crochet, and quilt creating many throws, quilts and afghans over the years which were handed down through the family. Donna had a tremendous love of family, both immediate and extended. One of her favorite activities was playing games with her grandchildren which she could do for hours. She was instrumental in organizing an annual family reunion of her siblings and their children which has continued for more than 30 years. Donna was a wonderful cook and enjoyed getting the family together for a large Sunday dinners which she had prepared.

Donna was a past Worthy Matron and 55-year member Goel 104 Order of Eastern Star where she developed many lifelong relationships. She was also a member of Riverside Baptist Church where she attended with her husband Paul.

 In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by a son Byron Keith Holloway, brothers TA Robinson, and William G (Smitty) Robinson, sisters Bee Prince, Lois Harper, June McClearn, Hilda Howell, and Carolyn Thomas.

 Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Paul Holloway, Brothers Wilber Robinson of Greenville KY and Johnnie Robinson (Carol) of Austin TX. Sons Paul (Bud) Holloway Jr (Cindi) and Martin Wilber Holloway (Sandy). Grandchildren Crysta Morris (Paul) of Owensboro, Aaron Holloway (Ann) of Decatur GA, Matthew Holloway (Jessica) of Owensboro, Brandy Riney (Chris) of Owensboro and Alex Holloway (Jennifer) of Phoenix AZ. Great Grandchildren Kae Holloway, Jackson Morris, Trace Morris, Leona Holloway, Emily Holloway, Matilda Holloway, Colin Boone, Olivia Riney, and Cash Holloway. There are also many nieces and nephews.

 The Eastern Star Funeral Service and comments by Pastor Paul Gatewood will be 6:00 pm Friday, September 20 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with same day visitation from 2:00 pm until the time of the service. 

 Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive Tampa, FL 33607.
