Donna Mae Fackler, 90, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest. Mrs. Fackler was born February 7, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Floyd and Ina Mae Horine. Donna was a very energetic, generous person who was a devoted Christian and actively involved in her church. She received her bachelor's degree from Iowa State in Education. Mrs. Fackler retired from teaching both Home Economics and English in Hopkins and Daviess Counties. Mrs. Fackler also traveled to many nations around the world and taught English in Bolivia for a short time. Donna was also a Kentucky Lady Colonel and very active in Habitat for Humanity and the Owensboro Herb Society.
Mrs. Fackler was preceded in death by her husband, David Robert Fackler and a daughter, Dorothy Srba and her husband Tony.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children; sons, David Fackler and wife Teale of Paducah, Douglas Fackler and wife Cheryl of Madisonville, Dawn Gentry and husband Stan of Owensboro, Deanna Hicklin and husband Charles of Marion, Kentucky, Darice Newmister and husband Thomas of Georgetown, South Carolina; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
The family wants to express special appreciation to her loving daughter and primary care giver, Dawn Gentry for her tireless devotion and the staff at Hillcrest for their tender care.
The service will be noon Friday, February 17 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Jim Coleman officiating. Interment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation also will be Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
