Donald Elton Sublett

Donald Elton Sublett, 79, of Owensboro, died Sunday, August 3, 2014, at the Heartford House surrounded by his family. He was born in Daviess County to the late Otis K. and Louise Tinius Sublett, graduated from Daviess County High School in 1953 and served in the United States Army from 1958-1960. He had worked for the United States Postal service for 34 years and after retirement spent 10 years working for Courier Express. Don was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, and was a former member of Hall Street Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon and was the Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed baseball and had been a fan of the Cincinnati Reds since the age of 7, but his favorite pastime was time spent with his family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Robbins.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sue Brown Sublett; children, Greg Sublett of Lexington and Susan Robbins Chapman and her husband Tim of Owensboro; grandchildren, Coty Robbins Horn (Brad), Elijah Sublett, Madison Chapman, Seth Robbins, Austin Sublett, and Ben Chapman; great-grandchildren, Jackson James Horn and Connor Wayne Horn; sister, Dorothy White (Brooks) of Alexander, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Heartford House or the Ronald McDonald House.
