Donald "Papa Smurf" Renfrow, 84, of Central City, died on June 11, 2014 at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Muhlenberg County on March 1, 1930 to the late Birch and Blanche Sandifur Renfrow.
Donald served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Island Church of God of Prophecy.
He was a well known fixture at the Powderly, Kentucky Rural King where he worked part time as a greeter and the "Pop Corn Man". Before retirement he had worked as a machinist.
Donald was a gentle man with a quick smile. He enjoyed going to church, listening to southern gospel music, spending time with friends and family, fishing and working in the yard.
Donald was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Magdalene Renfrow; a daughter, Elaine Renfrow of Central City; and a sister.
There will not be a public visitation or funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Health Hospice or Island Church of God of Prophecy.
