Donald Ray Peters, 81, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Louisville, Ky. on May 29, 1929 to the late Rayburn and Ruth Geraldine Burrell Peters. He was retired as an agent with Commonwealth Insurance Co. after 24 years of service. He was a past president of the Owensboro Life Underwriters. Don was a past member and instructor (2 years) of the L. U. T. C. and graduate from the L. U. T. C. #1 and 2. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and was very active in his service to the Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Owensboro Noon Optimist Club having served as a past board member and was a U. S. Air Force veteran during the Korean War era as an engine specialist. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also preceded in death by his son, David Ray Peters on November 15, 2008 and a sister, Nancy Ruth Peters.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Martha Klein Peters, two daughters, Trisha Dixon and husband Allen of Florida and Gene Lambing and husband Michael of Outer Banks, N. C., a granddaughter, Heather Hocker of Owensboro, and three great grandchildren, Hope and Gauge Gish and Roland Riley.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 29 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 8:30 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
