Donald Earl Nugent, 86, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at his home. Born in Le Mars, IA. in December 16, 1922, he was the son of the late Clarence and Anna Hahn Nugent. He had worked as a painting contractor and other jobs throughout his life and retired from St. Pius Catholic Church where he was the custodian. Mr. Nugent was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corps with decorations following World War II and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed playing pool and cards, watching old westerns, his car, and visiting with family and grandchildren.
Mr. Nugent was the proud father of three children, Steve Nugent (Jackie) of Twain Harte, CA, Joy Beliles (Herman) of Owensboro, and Gail Lewis of Harrisburg, PA; seven grandchildren; Brandon Nugent, Devin Nugent, Stephanie Brittain, Lori Pippin, Cody Weakley, Julie Askins, and April Wheatley; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother Kenneth Nugent of Ohio; and sisters, Ida Oglesbee and Peggy Masters of Ohio.
Services are 12 noon Monday, April 6, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Main officiating followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery with military honors rendered by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday and after 9 a.m. on Monday.
