Donald Joseph Johnson

Donald Joseph Johnson, 92, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born March 3, 1932 in Indianapolis to the late James J. and Martha Kerrick Johnson. Donald was retired from Western Kentucky Gas and Atmos Energy as Director of the Computing Center. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Brescia College and was a U. S. Navy veteran. In his earlier years, he had been very involved in a leadership role with The United Way. God was a big part of Donald’s life and he continued to live out his faith in his later years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and watching them play in various sports. Donald loved sports, especially basketball and played while in high school and in the Navy and also coached. He was an avid U.K. sports fan and enjoyed golfing and traveling.

 Donald was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Anna Lee Young Johnson on May 3, 2018; a son, Donald Kim Johnson on June 26, 2023; four brothers and a sister, Bobby, Horse, Louis, and Billy Johnson and Mary Kurz.

 Surviving are six children, Suzanne Denton of San Ramon, California and her children, Nikki and Trey, Jeff (Jenny) Johnson of Hawesville and their children, Adam, Paul, and Noah, Kelly (Nancy) Johnson of Owensboro and their children, Kyle, Nicole, and Lauren, Brian (Liz Ann) Johnson of Lexington and their children, Hannah, Micah, and Grace, Andy (Monica) Johnson of Owensboro and their children, Amelia and Emma, and Mary Ann Johnson of Owensboro and her children, Marcus, Natalie, and Manning; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 Funeral services will be Noon Saturday, June 15, at Glenn Fneral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the service Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
