Donald E. Head Sr.

Donald E.”Donnie” Head Sr., of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, April 20. He was born February 28, 1949, to the late Hayden and Mary “Bobbie” Head. Donnie was a member of Immaculate Parish. He retired after 30 years as a driver/engineer with the Owensboro Fire Department and was also a veteran of the U.S. National Guard. Donnie was an avid UK fan, hunter, and fisherman. He enjoyed playing golf and in previous years coaching and umpiring. 

In addition to his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by a son, Jason Head; brother, Michael Head; and sister-in-law, Debbie Head.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Janet Head; sons, D.J. Head (Rhonda) and Scott Head; sisters, Marnita Strehl (Pat) and Julie Castlen (Sherill); grandchildren, Sarah (Chris), Courtney (Nick), Luke (Leanza), Austin (Brook), Mackayla, and Luke, Lola; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Cora, Decker, Beckham, and Calloway; and many nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service for Donnie will be 4pm Wednesday, April 24, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 12pm until time of service at the funeral home.
