Donald Ray Hagan, 73, of Owensboro peacefully passed away, May 26, 2024, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor him by living their lives to the fullest. Donald showed courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile and a positive attitude and will now be reunited with his loving wife, Trisha Lynn in Heaven. Donald was born on February 23, 1951, to the late William Francis Hagan and Lillie Mae Simon Hagan. He retired from Commonwealth Aluminum as a Maintenance Mechanic with 33 years of dedicated service. Donald enjoyed woodworking, and working in his garage where he could fix and repair just about anything and was an avid U.K. fan. He never met a stranger, loved being around others, and enjoyed spending quality time with his family, which included fishing and many vacations over the years to the Great Smoky Mountains. He looked forward to weekend bunco games with his brothers and sisters.
Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia Lynn Hagan; his parents, William and Lillie Mae Simon Hagan; and a brother, William Leo Hagan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Jennifer Hagan (Jason) of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Julie Duff (Daniel) of Thompsons Station, Tennessee. Along with his grandchildren, Greyson and Griffin Duff. His siblings include four sisters, Linda Milligan of Evansville, Darlene (Terry) White of Owensboro, Fran Logsdon of Reynolds Station and Ann (Greg) Lanham of Philpot; three brothers, Paul Hagan of Philpot, Gary (Debbie) of Reynolds Station and Tommy (Martha) of Lewisport and a sister-in-law, Mary Hagan of Morganfield. He also has a brother-in-law, Buddy Ellis (Kay) of Louisville and sister-in-law, Lois Bethel (Jay) of Rockport.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be held from 2-7 pm on Thursday, May 30 at Glenn Funeral Home, with prayers at 6:30 pm.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathen’s Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
