Donald F. Gregory, 87, of Evansville, formerly of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Charlier Hospice in Evansville. Born in Memphis, TN, a son of the late Earl F. and Maggie Jackson Gregory, in 1950 he was transferred to Owensboro with Texas Gas Transmission Company and joined Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. He retired from Texas Gas in 1986 as the supervisor of electrical drafting. A member of the local model railroading association, he was very active with the railroading exhibit at the Owensboro Museum of Natural Science and History and was a member of the National Model Railroad Association and the National Railroad Historical Society. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Gregory served in the United States Army Air Corp as a B-26 mechanic in the European Theatre. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Yetta Seahorn Gregory in 1995, and a brother, William C. Gregory.
Mr. Gregory is survived by his children, Roderick F. "Rick" Gregory and his wife Joan of Salt Lake City, Utah, Gary W. Gregory and his wife Valerie of Denver, CO, A. Douglas "Doug" Gregory of Owensboro and Virginia C. "Ginny" Goodman and her husband Danny, of Evansville; seven grandchildren including Jamie Holeman of Owensboro; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Earl B. Gregory of Senatobia, MS; and his sister, Marguerite Kane of Brighton, TN.
The funeral service for Mr. Gregory, officiated by Rev. Darren Brandon, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
