Donald Lee Conkright

Donald Lee Conkright, age 71, of Owensboro passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013. He was born on November 26, 1941, in Owensboro to the late George and Etchel Conkright.

Don worked for the Owensboro Police Department for 27 years retiring at the rank of Captain. He was also a special needs bus driver for the Owensboro Public Schools for 13 years. He was an avid fan of UK basketball, and enjoyed golfing, billiards and his retirement. Don was of the Baptist faith, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Judy Mosby Conkright, 2 siblings, Patsy Frashure and Mickey Conkright, and his loving dog Maggie.


Survivors include his wife, Betty Jones Conkright; sons, Mike Conkright ( Alison) of Hawesville, Cliff Westfall ( Dorothy) of Highland Park, NJ; daughters, Christy Rohner ( Mike) of Newburgh, IN; Donna Gosnell ( Mark) of Keller, TX; Lori Keim ( Wally) of The Woodlands, TX; brother, Bennie Conkright (Kay) of Jonesboro, GA; grandchildren; Kaley, Tori, Nikki and Jenny Keim of The Woodlands, TX; Jennifer, Samantha and Matt Gosnell of Keller, TX; Silas and Irene Westfall of Highland Park, NJ; Mikayla and Brooklyn Conkright of Hawesville.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with interment following at Woodland Church Cemetery in Greenville. Rev. Charlie Jones and Bennie Conkright will be officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at the funeral home.
