Diane Morris Richmond

July 25, 1949 — August 12, 2014

Diane Morris Richmond of Owensboro and Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away on August 12, 2014 at the Heartford House. She had battled a rare lung infection for over nine years. Diane was the daughter of George and Rebecca Morris, both whom preceded her. She graduated from Daviess County High School and received her B.A. in Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University, and Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky Law School. After graduation she practiced law in Lexington for a short period and served as a Legislative Analyst for the Kentucky House of Representatives. She then became a Deputy Director of the Kentucky Office of Judicial Planning in Frankfort after passage of the new Judicial Articles of the Kentucky Constitution.

Diane developed the paralegal studies program of Midway College and served as the first chairwoman of that program at Midway. She left Midway to become General Counsel for the Department of Insurance, Commonwealth of Kentucky and served for four years.

She returned to Owensboro in 1984 and entered into private practice and became re-acquainted with and married her husband, Scott Richmond. The firm of Richmond and Morris continued until the onset of her disease in 2005 when she and Scott retired.

Diane was active in many women's organizations, serving as President of Owensboro Business and Professional Women's Club. She was also a member of the Daviess County Kentucky and American Bar Associations.

Diane is survived by her best friend, law partner, and husband, Scott Richmond; daughter, Rebecca Richmond of Cincinnati, Corree Richmond Anness ( Daryl) of Lexington; granddaughter, Avery Kate Anness; brother Bill Morris of Frankfort; many grateful clients who were well served by her representation.

At Diane's request, there will be no formal services. Her cremated remains will be scattered at a later date on Pine Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands, where she and Scott were married and spent many wonderful times together.
