Diane Blandford Lane, 84, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, Wednesday, April 29, 2026. She had been under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. Diane was born August 19, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Joseph Ellis and Maude Merrimee Blandford. She also was an avid U.K. basketball fan, enjoyed walking and talking to the neighbors, and working in her yard and raising flowers and ferns. Diane was also preceded in death by a brother, Gerald “Jerry” Blandford and sisters-in-law, Doris Blandford and Mary Jane Blandford.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Byron Lane; children, Robin Dean and husband Hadden of Harrodsburg and Shannon Lane and wife Julie of Utica; six grandchildren, Erin (Drew) Fulkerson of Louisville, Garrett Dean of Nashville, Chance Lane of Utica, Luke Dean of Bowling Green, Conar Lane of Utica, and Abby Dean of Louisville; one great grandchild, Foster Lane; siblings, Don Blandford of Philpot, Julia Graziano and husband Nick of Long Island, N.Y., and Tom Blandford and wife Helen of Kansas City, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, The Shelton Family, Royce Fulkerson, and Susan Beisel.
