Diana Kay Purcell

Diana Kay Purcell, 71, of Owensboro passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. The Daviess County native was born August 21, 1954, as one of ten children to the late Walter and Doris Ranburger Lindsey. Diana attended Longfellow High School with the 1972 class.

She worked as a custodian for the Daviess County Board of Education at Burns, Deer Park, and Masonville Elementary School before she retired. Diana was a great cook and was especially known for her beans and cornbread. She was the peacemaker in the family who loved having company over and spending time with her grandkids. Diana enjoyed gardening, BINGO, and playing the slot machine on her tablet. She had strong opinions about things and you never needed to wonder where she stood.

In addition to her parents, Diana was also preceded in death by her husband, Ted Purcell in 2018; daughter, Donna Sparks; grandchildren, Avery Sparks and Kamren White; siblings, Jeff, Kenneth, and Preston Lindsey, Karen Rickard, and Barbara Whitton.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons, Richie Purcell (Diana), Anthony Purcell, and Christopher Purcell (Crystal) all of Owensboro; ten grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren; siblings, Sandra Pate (Melvin), Robert Lindsey (Angela), Marty Lindsey (Sheila), and Emmett Lindsey; numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements for Diana Purcell are private. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
