Diamon Taylor, 90, of 11114 Pleasant Ridge Road, Utica, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at Leisure Years Nursing Home. He was born in Ohio Co., Ky. and had been the owner of Taylors Grocery in Pleasant Ridge for 28 years. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he had served as the Sunday School Superintendent and a teacher. He was a member of the Joe Ellis Masonic Lodge #473, had been a mason for 58 years, and was a 32nd degree mason, Member of the Lizzie Ford Chapter of the Eastern Star, Joe Daviess Chapter #32, Owensboro Council #34, and Commandery #15, and a shriner. He had been on the committee for getting a water line run from Ohio County Water District to the Pleasant Ridge area and also measured tobacco ground in Ohio Co. for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norine Jolly Taylor on Sept. 28, 2001.
Surviving is a brother, Melba J. Taylor of Owensboro, and a sister, Pearl McKinley of Louisville, and five nieces & nephews, Jerry Taylor of Owensboro, Shirley Taylor of Utica, Larry McKinley and Donald Wise, both of Louisville, and Gary McKinley of Virginia.
Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 25, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with burial at Mt. Carmel.. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held at the graveside.
