DeVonne Clay Campbell

DeVonne Clay Campbell, 32, of Stanley went into Glory with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 16, 2007. He was born to his parents, Frank and Brenda Campbell McReynolds of Elkton, August 12, 1975. Clay was an adoring husband, a constant companion to his wife, devoted dad, honoring son, loving brother and uncle and a true friend to many. He was employed at Integra Bank in Evansville, umpired, and refereed in the Daviess County youth sports leagues and was an active member of Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of First Baptist Church in Elkton, Kentucky. To his softball, tee ball and basketball teams he was Coach Clay. He graduated from Todd County Central High School in 1993 and Murray State University in 2000, where he was an active member of the Voices of Praise Ministry. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Louise White and Sophie Brown, his foster grandparents, Mary and Sam Morehead, and his blessed friends: Corey, Julian, Azuria, Jade and Kendrick.

In addition to his parents, Clay is survived by his wife, Julia Lee Elliott Campbell; his children, Olivia Lee, Elliott DeVonne, and Rachel Catherine; a sister, Thomasine (Ruben) Hassell; and a brother, Todd (Lisa) Campbell. He was Uncle Clay to Todd S., Ruben, Taylor, Trent, Soleila and Mia. Also loving Clay were his sisters in law, Christy (Jose) Elliott-Gonzalez and Sarah Jane Elliott, a bother in law, Andy (Stacey) Elliott, his in-laws, Sarah S. Elliott and Michael (Joyce) Elliott, and grandparents in law, JR and Betty Strode. Clay leaves many uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Owensboro. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Elkton, Kentucky, on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro, Kentucky and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Peter of Alcantara Cemetery in Stanley, Kentucky.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Olivia, Elliott and Rachel Scholarship Fund.
