Derrell S. Red Cross, 74, of Rockport, died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Andalusia, AL on July 12, 1931, Mr. Cross was a member of the Richland Christian Church; retired from ALCOA where he worked for over 29 years; and an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Cross was a member of VFW Post 696 and the American Legion Post in Rockport.
He is survived by sons Duane and his wife Susan Cross and Myron and his wife Janet Cross of Hatfield, Ronald and his wife Sandy Cross of Grandview, and Brian Cross of Rockport; his former wife, Rose Sam Keller of Rockport; grandchildren, Andy Cross, Denver Cross, Travis Cross, Nicholas Cross, Kyle Cross, Virginia Cross, Megan Cross, and Ashley Cross all of Spencer County, Christopher Cross in the Marine Corps in NC; Step-grandchildren, Casey Jones of NC, Eric Baumberger in the US Army in Germany, and Nicole Hensley of Evansville; three step-great grandchildren; brothers, Virgil Cross of New York and Lester Cross of Bardwell, KY; and a sister, Deloris Cross; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 1 P.M. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home officiated by Father Brian Roby with burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Whitesville with miliary honors rendered by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be after 10 A.M. on Wednesday. .
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Disabled American Veterans.
