Derek J. Stearsman

Derek J. Stearsman, 37, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky.
Derek was born in Daviess County and received a certificate from Apollo High School. He was a regular at Active Day where he made many friends and enjoyed the socialization. He enjoyed NASCAR, football, Christmas, tractor pulls, dogs and flirting with pretty girls! He also spent spare time watching television, especially emergency shows, Golden Girls and Saved by the Bell. Derek showed his love for others, he was generous with hugs and his smile brightened the lives of many.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Jerry and Dimple Bowlds (who as a widow, adopted and raised Derek) and Delbert and Ginny Stearsman.
Derek is survived by several aunts and uncles, including Aunt Kathy Cilia and her husband Tony of Owensboro (with whom Derek lived), Uncle Stoney Bowlds and his wife Pam of New Smyrna, Florida; birth mother, Robin Luttrell; and special friends, Steve and Lisa Martin of Owensboro.
The service will be 9:30 AM, Wednesday, September 6, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 until 8 PM and Wednesday after 8:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
