Dennis Allen Peacock, 53, of Owensboro, was born in Louisville January 14, 1953 and went home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2006. Dennis was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many. He enjoyed watching his son play soccer, attending church, and most of all, people. He believed in living each day to its fullest. During his time her on Earth, Dennis trained orderlies at Hermitage Manor Nursing Home, was employed at Cardinal Federal Bank for 13 years, owned and operated Peacocks Family Restaurant from 1995-2000, was employed by Owensboro Mercy Health System from 2000 2002, and was a teacher with the Daviess County Public School System at Beacon Central High Scholl from 2002 2004. He served as past-president of the Greater Ohio Valley Chapter 579 of the Institute of Financial Education, was former member of the Owensboro Jaycees and the Owensboro-Daviess County Chamber of Commerce, was active in Junior Achievement, a member of the Teen Board of Owensboro and was a former deacon of First Christian Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel, volunteered many hours at Burns Middle School, was active in the Stephens Ministries program at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was a current member, and was an active member of the Emmaus Community. A 1971 graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School, he attended Western Kentucky University where he received a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration in 1976.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sue Wilkerson Peacock; his son James Allen Peacock, at home; his mother, Ola Sosh Peacock of Owensboro; his brothers, Edward Beverly Peacock of Clarksville, TN and James Richard Butch Peacock of Las Vegas, NV, and several nieces and nephews. His, father, Beverly J. Peacock, preceded him in death.
Services are at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Todd Love, the Rev. Mark Benton, and the Rev. James Westmoreland. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Stephens Ministries Program of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.
