Dempsey E. Manley

Dempsey E. Manley, 92, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2026. He was born February 23, 1934, to the late Willie David and Mary Florence Manley. Dempsey was a member of South Hampton Baptist Church, where he was also a deacon for many years.

Dempsey was a proud U.S. Navy veteran. Those closest to him describe him as a simple man who loved his family, hunting, farming, and UK Basketball.

In addition to his parents, Dempsey is preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Ailene Manley; brothers, Leon Manley, Glenn Manley, Don Manley, Alfred Manley and Gerald Manley; sister, Hazel Manley; and grandson, Jason “Bubba” Roberts.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Sherion Roberts (Mike), Todd Manley (Nikki) and Michael Manley (Bonnie); siblings, Joe Manley (Barbara) and Nancy Marilyn Manley Elkins; grandchildren, Dustin Roberts (Elizabeth), Colton Manley, Lilly Manley, Cody Manley and Travis Manley; greatgrandchildren, Rylee Manley, Jace Roberts, Eli Roberts and Delaney Roberts; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Dempsey will be 2p.m. Thursday, November 5, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 11a.m. to 1:30p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at South Hampton Cemetery.
