Delores Maxine Turner, 81, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009 at the Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Maceo on January 11, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Reynolds Mattingly; was a homemaker; and of the catholic faith. She attended Maceo School for a while before moving to Owensboro where she attended St. Francis Academy. Mrs. Turner worked at General Electric for a short time before marrying Charles Leo Turner in 1950. Mrs. Turner had fond memories of several pets over the years including her Yorkshire "Vinnie" and a parakeet and enjoyed fishing, genealogy and country music. Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Mattingly and a sister, Mary Lou Mattingly.
She is survived by sons, William Earl (Laura) Turner of St. Louis and Charles Anthony (Nancy) Turner of Owensboro; grandchildren, Zach Jenkins, Katie Jenkins, and Jacob Jenkins all of Owensboro; a great-grandchild, Hunter Jenkins of Owensboro; a brother, William (Faye) Mattingly of Owensboro; and a sister, Shelby Wells of Owensboro.
Services are 12 noon Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home with burial following in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday.
