Delbert Lee Mattingly, 86, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at his home. He was born in Daviess County on January 28, 1925 to the late Mary Grace and W. Keith Mattingly. He was a lifelong member of St. Stephen Cathedral where he was an usher for 30 years. He was retired from Harry Holder/ Champion Ford where he was employed for 65 years. During the latter years of his employment, a lunch break area named "Deb's Corner" was designated in his honor, recognizing his many years of service. Of this he was both humbled and appreciative. In semi-retirement his most recent job was as a shuttle driver for Champion.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister, Ella Margaret Mattingly, and two brothers, Goldman and Robert Mattingly.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret Mattingly, a daughter, Carol Vaughn and son, Bob Mattingly, a sister, Katherine Hunter of Pontiac, IL., two brothers, Gilbert ( Lucille) Mattingly of Whitesville, and David ( Rhonda) Mattingly of Maryville, TN., and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Stephen Cathedral with the Rev. John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
