Delbert Durwood Knight

Delbert "Buddy" Knight, 68, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County on December 25, 1942, he was the son of the late James V. and Mary Joe Ballard Knight; was retired from Modern Welding; worked as a delivery driver for the Eight-Ball; and was an Air Force Veteran. Mr. Knight was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Veterans. He enjoyed coin collecting, fishing, and spending time with his best friend, Bobby Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, June Keeny and Dorothy Belcher.

Surviving is a daughter, Carrie Billings (and Jon Lawrence) of Owensboro; his companion, Janey Garriott of Owensboro; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Rachael Lawrence; a brother, James "Jimmy" Knight (Glenda) of Texas; sisters, JoEtta (Bobby) Newton of Tell City and Ann Bower of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are Monday, May 9, 2011 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Jerry Carter officiating. Burial will be in St Raphael Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
