Deidre L. Griffin

Deidre "Dee" L. Griffin, 64, of Hawesville, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Evansville, Indiana to the late Burl Thomas and Flora Lee Canfield Young. Dee attended Owensboro Business College.
She retired from Owensboro Mercy Hospital (now Owensboro Health Regional) after more than 21 years of service. Dee was a member of Rushing Wind Church of God where her many activities included working with the children's group, secretary for the Elder's Group and treasurer. She enjoyed Facebook, reading (especially the Bible) and spending time with her grandchildren. Dee was a selfless, sacrificial, outgoing and Godly woman who was also a bit of a jokester. She will truly be missed by many.
Dee is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill Griffin; a daughter, Lisa Barrow (Joe) of Hawesville; a son, Brian Griffin of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Elysha Grace Barrow of Hawesville and Brianna Faith Griffin of Newburgh, IN; step-grandchildren, Blake and Regan Barrow of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Beverly Northern (Bob) of Hawesville; brothers, Michael Young (Janet) of Branson, MO and Tracey Young (Vickie) of Steger, IL; a half-brother, Carroll Young of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 5 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 PM and after 12 on Saturday at the funeral home.
