D. L. Sunderman, 91, of 2613 Wisteria Gardens, Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at his home. He was born November 7, 1914 to the late Louis Henry and Thelma Witshork Sunderman in Vincennes, IN. He retired from the US Army Corp of Engineers after 30 years of service. He was a active member of Peace Lutheran Church, a Kentucky Colonel, a Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor, a member of the Jefferson County Department of Engineers and the Broward County Engineering Department in Florida. He loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all his family.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Sunderman in 1979.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Doris Sunderman, his sons, John R. Sunderman and his wife, Louise, Bill Sunderman and his wife, Kathryn; five grandchildren, Tracy Ioia, Nicole, Jonathan and Tori Sunderman and Alex Greenwood; four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Lindsey Ioia, Logan and Bridgette Mischel.
Services will be 11:30 AM Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home, with visitation 4:00 until 8:00 PM Friday and after 10:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Monday, visitation will be beginning at 10:00 AM with services at 2:00 PM EDT at the Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY, burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
