Deborah Jane "Janie" Embry, 66, of 3432 South Griffith Place, Owensboro, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Owensboro Medical System. She was a native of Owensboro, born to the late Verbun and Bethalto (Cornwell) Patterson.
Janie was a homemaker who liked sewing and embroidery, reading and word puzzles, and loved her two pet dogs. She was a supporter of Owensboro Catholic High her whole life. Her husband, Bruce Embry preceded her in death on May 4, 2005.
Surviving are her daughters; Angel (Terry) Payne, Cynthia (Bruce) Galloway of Owensboro, and Elizabeth (Rob) Burnett of Louisville, grandchildren; Andrew Payne, Zachary, Joshua, and Bethany Galloway, all of Owensboro, Meredith and Carson Burnett of Louisville, and a sister; Mildred Breckenridge of Louisville, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12:05 p.m.Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 7 p.m. with prayers at 6 p.m. There will be no visitation prior to the funeral Wednesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, or to the Bruce and Janie Embry Memorial Fund at Owensboro Catholic High School.
