Deborah Carter Stewart, 70, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024, at her home. Debbie was born in Jefferson County on April 2, 1954, to the late Arthur Carter Jr. and Verna Marlene Kennedy Carter. As a child, she accompanied her family to Sao Paulo, Brazil, to serve as missionaries. After graduating from high school in Louisville, she attended Johnson Bible College. Debbie dedicated herself to a successful career as an Administrative Assistant at Texas Gas until her retirement. Having grown up in the church, she was a devoted Christian and attended Owensboro Christian Church regularly. Debbie had a wonderful sense of humor, which was easily seen by her sassy comments or playful teasing with her loved ones—her laugh was unmistakable and brought joy to those around her. One of her favorite things were dogs, which she lovingly cared for throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, Deborah also was preceded in death by two sisters, Cindy Carter Bell and Pam Carter Hicks.
She is survived by two more sisters, Kathleen Mattingly (Alfred) and Becky Edgar (Brent) both of Owensboro as well as ten nieces and nephews.
Deborah will be laid to rest with her mother in Rosehill Cemetery. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Owensboro Humane Society 3101 W. 2nd St. Owensboro Ky 42301.
