Deane Hamlet

Elna Deane Hamlet, 88, of Owensboro, died Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation. She was born in McLean County June 20, 1921 to the late Charles F. and Nola (Rickard) Rector. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Owensboro.
Her husband, John E. Hamlet Sr. preceded her in death in February of 1999, and an infant son, Joseph Brent Hamlet, and brothers; Wesley and Lorenzo Rector.
Survivors include her sons; John E. (Ashley) Hamlet Jr. of Nokomis, Florida, Jerry W. (Diane) Hamlet of St. Louis, Missouri, Ron Hamlet and Susan Borders of Lexington, Kentucky, Richard (Vickie) Hamlet and Mike (Donna) Hamlet of Owensboro, a daughter; Patti (Frank) Buckner of Tucson, Arizona, 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a special friend; Ella King.
"Mom" left behind a legacy of love to all her family and everyone that she met.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Donnie Thomas officiating and burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center, Activities Department.
