David Wilson, 85, of Whitesville, passed away Saturday, March 21, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 7, 1941, to the late JW and Marie Wilson. David was devoted Christian and member of Owensboro First Church of God.
David faithfully served as a barge worker for LaFarge Corporation until his retirement, where his steadfast work ethic earned him respect throughout his career. Beyond his professional life, he was a man of many interests and talents. David had a profound love for old hot rods and was an avid enthusiast of anything with an engine. He found joy in working on cars, having owned numerous vehicles over the years, including motorcycles, go-karts, and dirt racing cars. His passion for speed and mechanics was a defining part of his identity.
In addition to his automotive pursuits, David was deeply connected to the outdoors through his love of fishing and horses. He raised quarter horses and treasured the time he spent riding and caring for them.
Above all else, David cherished his family, finding immense joy in their company and the moments they shared together. His commitment to his loved ones was evident to all who knew him, reflecting the depth of his character and faith.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Wilson; brother, Charlie Wilson; and brother-in-law, Raymond Wilson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 61 years, Bonnie Delene Wilson; daughters, Davina Foster (Justin) and Rebecca Horton (Jason); son, Barry Wilson (Christa); sister, Juanita Dragoo (Lawrence); brother, Leroy Wilson (Linda); grandchildren, Meghann Jarboe (Bill), David Foster (Erica), Ariel Renfrow (Curtis), Timothy Wright (Tara), Tabetha Wright (Shawn Barnett), Brandon Wilson, Emily Wilson and Brady Wilson; as well as 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be having a Celebration of Life Saturday, March 28, at Owensboro First Church of God. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
