David E. Voges, 64, of 3564 Greenbriar Road, Utica, died 9:07 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Tell City, Indiana on September 11, 1940. He retired in 1994 from Ohio County Area Vocational Education System where he worked for 27 years and he was a carpentry instructor for the United States Forestry Service at Branchville Indiana Job Corps for 11 years. He was a graduate of Murray State University and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Browns Valley, Kentucky. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and U.K. ballgames, and he loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Agnes Evvard Voges in 1986, his father, Hubert John Voges in 1990, his first wife, Betty Jane Etienne Voges of Cannelton, Indiana in 1967, and two sons, Thomas Lee Voges in 1977, and Stephen Joseph Voges in 2001, a sister, Alberta Butch Vieck of Vincennes, Indiana in 1972, and a brother, Rev. Bernard Voges in 1980.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Martha Hayden Voges, children, David Ernest Voges and wife Connie, and their children, Emily Kathryn, Rebecca Ellen, and Sarah Beth Voges, all of Louisville KY, Julie Anne Voges Pierce and her husband, Lee, and children, Rachael Ann and Heather Lynn Pierce, of Hartford, Kentucky, William Anthony Bill Voges, and wife Jenna and children, Jacob Anthony and Brenna Lynn Voges of Middlesboro, Kentucky, Hans Abram Voges and his wife, Teresa of Indianapolis, Indiana, Adam Seth Voges, and wife, Melisa, and children, Anna Marie, and David Michael Voges, all of Middlesboro, Kentucky. He is also survived by the former wife of his son, Barbara Landers widow of Stephen Voges, of Tell City, and their children, Ashley Nicole, Natasha Marie, and Derek Stephen Voges. Brothers and sisters, Alice Wahl of Louisville, Kentucky, Sr. Jeanne Voges O.S.B. of Beech Grove, Indiana, Hubert Voges, Kay Etienne, and Jim Voges, all of Tell City, Indiana, and Kathy Peabody of Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services will be held, 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2005 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with burial in the Church cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with prayers at 7:00 p.m. Visitation Monday will be after 8:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Church. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Joseph School for Indian Children in South Dakota.
