David George Swanson

David G. Swanson, 84, of Owensboro passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Fitchburg, MA on August 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Herbert and Mary Perry Swanson; was a Navy combat veteran of World War II and the Korean War; and had worked until he was 80 years old.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Mildred Hibbs Swanson; sons, Bobby Swanson and Scott Swanson both of Chicago; daughters, Sharon Swanson of Owensboro and Linda Chris Zawistowski of Antioch, IL; a step-daughter, Libby Cox Petroff of Lake Villa, IL; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services and visitation are private with Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory handling arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
