David Stinson Rose, 72, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, July 13 at his home. He was born October 7, 1944 in Daviess County to the late Elwood and Helen Stinson Rose. David was a very strong Catholic and loved attending church. He was a police officer for the Owensboro Police Department for several years before becoming an industrial maintenance mechanic. David was also an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was an avid fan of baseball and the New York Yankees were his favorite. David was always willing to help anyone in need, loved animals, and loved his family most of all.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Marilyn Kay Payne Rose; and a brother, Bruce Rose.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Todd Rose and his wife Gretta of Paducah, Brandon Rose and his wife Karen of Owensboro, and Coby Rose of Owensboro; a daughter, Melissa Taylor of Paducah; a brother, Kenny Rose and his wife Kay of Newburgh; and his special feline companion, Malkina.
A funeral mass will be 11 am Monday July 17 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Mark Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 until 5 PM with prayers at 4 PM, and Monday from 9 until 10:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
